Amarapura, 7 miles from Yangon.
Consisting and famous of having the world’s longest teak bridge. It’s a beatiful 1300yd-long teak footbridge leading over the shallow Taungthaman Lake. This bridge is over 200 yeras old and locals use it frequently and sometimes it’s getting pretty busy when school-children and people are cossing on their way home. As well all the monks that are based here because of all the monasteriers. Amarapura has a very pieceful vibe with a lot of greenery.
You can get here buy catching a local bus from the clock tower in Yangon, catch a cab or going with a tour group that usually include several other sights.
Recommended are to get here on your own, it’s easy, and there are plenty of monks that will be more than happy to practise their English with you and show you around.
There’s also many other things to see here. It’s a nice place to hang around, spend some time, eat, drink and chat with the locals.
