Busride from Pathein to Chaung Tha Beach
A really shitty bus. Above are some pics from the bus. It took me about 3 1/2 hour to get to Chaung Tha with this one. The bus where suppose to leave 3 pm, but left around 3:30 pm, and whirled around Pathein town for an another 30 minutes before it left.
I think I arrived in Chaung Tha around 6:45pm.
Of some reason the bus were leaning to the left. And the floor was filled with lots of empty bottles beneth me and in the rest of the bus rice bags. This togheter made the journey not so comfy, spending most of my time trying to not fall over on to the driver who seemed very focus on the road, and determined to not smile to much. Chewing the betel.., and spitting out the look-a-like-blood-liquid through the window as soon he had an opportunity.
One of the guys belonging to the bus had to pee and disappered into the kind of jungle-bush when the bus stopped, another guy also working for this funny bus run after into da bush. We all waited and we waited, the rain came, but no guys came. We stood still for at least 40 minutes before they showed up again from another direction, looking a little bothered. Well fuck guess who wasn’t bothered, waiting for them. I don’t know what happend and no-one seemed to know,.. were they simply peeing and got lost, or did they have stomach problem or where they actually banging each other.. !?
The journey continued and finally we ended up in Chang Tha beach. A guy from Shwe Hin Tha Hotel approached the bus and told me his resort was the only one staying open during the wet season. Which later showed up to be true.
Nice place though, even if Lonely Planet had warned about touts running over to the bus as fast as it stops outside the hotel and unload your gear before you even have the time to say yes or no. However they still kind of recommend this place and as well do I. You get quite good rooms for a good value. And they’re are friendly and helpful.
